The UK–ASEAN Symposium on Precision Breeding

March 1112, 2026

HA NOI, 11–12 March 2026 – The UK–ASEAN Symposium on Precision Breeding was held on 11–12 March 2026 in Ha Noi, Viet Nam, bringing together more than 60 researchers, policymakers, and experts from across ASEAN and the United Kingdom to advance regional cooperation in genome‑editing technologies. The programme featured high‑level opening remarks, thematic presentations across crops, livestock, and aquaculture, as well as exchanges on global and regional regulatory approaches, public acceptance, and the latest scientific advances in precision breeding.

Participants engaged in rapid‑fire sessions, networking activities, and partnership‑building workshops designed to identify collaborative research opportunities and strengthen science‑to‑policy linkages in the region. The discussions underscored the growing momentum to integrate modern breeding techniques into Southeast Asia’s food and agriculture systems, while fostering UK–ASEAN connections to accelerate innovation, capacity building, and knowledge exchange.
