The 14th Meeting of the ASEAN-Japan Cooperation Committee on Science and Technology (AJCCST-14) was successfully convened on 19 June 2025, hosted by Indonesia. The Meeting was co-chaired by Dr. Ir. Boediastoeti Ontowirjo, COSTI Chairperson and Deputy Chairman of BRIN, and Mr. OKADA Shinsuke, Director for International Cooperation at Japan’s Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT).
The Meeting highlighted the strong partnership between ASEAN and Japan in advancing science, technology, and innovation (STI). Representatives from all ASEAN Member States, Japan, and Timor-Leste (as an observer) participated in constructive discussions, emphasizing their joint commitment to fostering innovation, strengthening partnerships, and addressing regional challenges through enhanced STI cooperation.
The Meeting also highlighted NEXUS (Networked Exchange, United Strength for Stronger Partnerships between Japan and ASEAN) a 100 million USD programme to support cooperation in STI dedicated for ASEAN Member States.
