The 13th Meeting of the ASEAN Expert Group on Metrology (EGM-13)

The 13th Meeting on the ASEAN Expert Group on Metrology (EGM-13) was successfully convened on 23-24 July 2025, hosted by Malaysia. The Meeting was chaired by Dr. Ghufron Zaid of EGM Indonesia and notably welcomed, for the first time, the participation of delegates from Timor-Leste.

The Meeting highlighted ASEAN’s collective commitment to advancing regional cooperation in metrology, in line with the ASEAN Plan of Action on Science, Technology and Innovation (APASTI) 2026–2035. The discussions also covered the progress of ongoing collaborative initiatives, including digital transformation, traceability of electric vehicle (EV) charging stations, proficiency testing, and basic training on metrology. It also explored synergies with the ASEAN Consultative Committee on Standards and Quality (ACCSQ), particularly its Working Group 3 on Legal Metrology.

Following the EGM-13 Meeting, delegates also visited leading innovation hubs in Malaysia, such as CelcomDigi and the Petronas Upstream Experience Centre, to gain insights into emerging technologies and explore potential areas for future collaboration.
