Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics Conference 2024 (STEMCON24) was held on 22-23 October 2024 in Jakarta, Indonesia. The Conference was funded by USAID and implemented by Arizona State University in collaboration with the Ministry of Higher of Education of Indonesia. The Conference brought together industry experts, government leaders and university academics to address future workforce needs by leveraging their interconnectedness.
A Session titled Women in STEM: Empowering the Next Generation of Innovator at #STEMCon2024! was held to celebrate, inspire and empower women pursuing careers in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM). Despite the progress made, women remain underrepresented in many STEM fields. In this session, leaders in STEM in ASEAN discussed the challenges women face, highlighted strategies for success, and provided insights on creating inclusive environments where women can thrive. The ASEAN Committee on Science, Technology, and Innovation (COSTI) initiatives were highlighted as exemplary in strengthening women’s participation in STEM across the region.
